Business Description

We manufacture silicone seals, o-rings, gaskets and tubing for industries such as construction, defence, medical, rail and aerospace.

Projects / tasks

The intern will undertake at least one of the following projects:

Project 1: Design, fabrication, sourcing and testing of an extruder feeding mechanism/machine that automatically feeds silicone into the extruder.

Project 2: Design, fabrication, sourcing and testing of a mechanism/machine to automate the silicone joining method using the quick press.

Project 3: Design, fabrication, sourcing and testing of an automatic winding machine.

In addition to this project, they may aid the mechanical engineer in daily tasks such as CAD drafting, operating the wire EDM machine, regular factory maintenance procedures etc.

Technical skills

Necessary:

• Experience using CAD software such as Solidworks, Creo or AutoCAD.
• Microsoft office (Word, Excel)

Desirable:

• Experience in a workshop environment using machines such as drill press, band saw, lathe etc.
• Experience working on a product design project at uni or as an extra-curricular activity.
• Distinction or better in the following units or equivalent: Materials, statics, dynamics, manufacturing, product design
