Business description:

We design, develop, maintain and evolve a variety of niche Electronic Warfare products and integrated system solutions comprising cutting-edge RF, analogue and digital technologies for maritime, airborne and land platforms utilised by the Australian Defence Force.

Projects / tasks:

Our systems are comprised of a combination of RF electronics, high technology circuit cards (high speed analog to digital conversion, CPU, GPU and FPGA based processing), and custom FPGA firmware, and application and embedded software. The successful intern(s) would be given exposure to a range of projects and tasks covering design, development, integration, and testing that will be selected based on their education and interest areas.

Tasks will be aligned with a formal Defence program and will contribute to a current or future capability. As part of their task the Intern will be embedded within a teams and exposed to the workings of the larger program to help with understanding the assigned task, the application of their craft in industry, the formal Defence engineering process, and the operation of the Defence industry in general.

Technical skills:

Software Engineering candidates will have knowledge of object oriented programming principles and the software development lifecycle. Familiarity with languages such as C, C++, Java and Python; Linux and Windows operating systems; and SW version control is desired.

Electronic/Systems Engineering candidates will have an interest in in one or more of the following areas: Radio Frequency and analog systems, Digital Signal Processing, FPGA and embedded system development. Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle is an advantage.

Intern interpersonal qualities:

Candidate should have good communication skills, be capable of working both alone and within a team, and have sufficient initiative to work independently/autonomously. Those with an interest in technology outside of their studies (eg. personal projects/hobbies involving electronics and/or software, involvement in technology clubs and programs etc) are highly regarded.

Mature age applicants and those having prior exposure to Defence (eg. ex-ADF) are encouraged to apply. Local candidates are preferred to improve the prospect of employment following placement.
