Business description:

We are a world leader in manufacturing engine powertrain systems for use in unmanned aerial vehicles. We also manufacture electronic speed controllers (for controlling motors which drive propellers on multi-copters) and servos (for use as actuators on UAV flight surfaces). We are about to release its first hybrid gasoline/electric engine system which is the culmination of over five years of development work. With innovation at its core, we have a team of seven talented engineers working on product and software development. We have recently established an electronics assembly facility (including pick and place machines, reflow oven and automatic optical inspection) and are currently investing in further automation to increase the production output to meet customer demand. We also have a well-equipped workshop including two five-axis milling machines, two three-axis machines and a turning centre for manufacturing parts and prototypes. As well as developing our own products, we also offers contract engineering consulting services to the unmanned aerial vehicles sector. We are currently developing a custom hybrid engine for a multi-copter which is being funded by the Australian Government.

Projects / tasks:

Typical work could include:
– design and undertake experiments to acquire and analyse test data in order to characterise the performance of current products (or validate products under development)
– assist other engineers in the development and validation of electromechanical designs, review software changes and investigate ways to increase electronics production efficiency

Technical skills:

– can demonstrate the ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world designs eg home projects relating to electronics
– working knowledge of electronic circuits, ability to read and understand schematics and troubleshoot designs
– experience in computer programming and software development (in particular C / Python)
– use CAD software for engineering design tasks
– hand skills/soldering small electronics would be advantageous
