We produce and deliver secure voice communication system solutions for mission-critical Defence applications. Our engineers do all the system/software/hardware requirement analysis, design, development, building, integration and testing in-house to develop and tailor our highly configurable product according to each customer’s needs and requirements. The product incorporates a wide range of technologies such as IT/Linux, radio & telephony interfaces, analog and digital audio, IP networking, VoIP and cybersecurity.

Projects / tasks:

Software:

The intern would be working with our Software (and Software Test) Engineers on real projects, to help develop and test our voice communication system solutions to customers. Depending on the project/phase, this could be:

  • building a system (physically setting up, interconnecting and configuring IT/electronics/software/hardware subsystems).
  • validating systems and software design (reviewing documentation to ensure software and systems requirements are covered in test).
  • installing system operating environments and application software
  • testing (running functional sanity tests, verifying defects have been fixed, and running test procedures to verify system and software requirements – everything from telephony and radio call functionality to system monitoring, logging, recording, cybersecurity, etc.).
  • troubleshooting or technical investigation tasks.

The intern will also attend some in-house training sessions on our product, technologies, and/or systems and software engineering processes, as relevant to their taskings.

Systems:

The intern would be working working with our Systems Engineers on real projects, to help develop and deliver our voice communication system solutions to customers. Depending on the project/phase, this could be:

  • building a system (physically setting up, interconnecting and configuring IT/electronics/software/hardware subsystems).
  • documenting the system design (creating diagrams, updating user manuals & system setup procedures).
  • testing (verifying hardware and interfaces are functional, verifying defects have been fixed, and running test procedures to verify system requirements – everything from telephony and radio call functionality to system monitoring, logging, recording, cybersecurity, etc.).
  • packing & documenting equipment for shipment to site.
  • troubleshooting or technical investigation tasks.

The intern will also attend some in-house training sessions on our product, technologies, and/or systems engineering processes, as relevant to their taskings.

Technical skills:

Software:

  • A demonstrated knowledge of IT and proficiency in PC skills including hardware and/or software installation or configuration. Ideally, this would include experience with the Linux command line interface, installing Linux or Windows operating systems, and/or virtual machines.
  • An understanding of C++ or similar object orientated programing language.
  • IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience with electronics, analog audio, telephony, radio or cybersecurity is helpful but not essential.

Systems:
