Projects / tasks:

During an internship with our company, you will get exposure to the most advanced robotic arms in the world and be given opportunities to understand them further from a mechanical, electrical, software, or mechatronics perspective, depending on your engineering discipline and interests. Tasks in the internship will include:

  • Mechanical Design of new components in CAD Software, Software Design of new Interface Features, Electrical Design of new circuitry
  • Manufacturing prototypes via 3D printing and machining.
  • Testing these prototypes against your assumptions.
  • Production verification of our product range
  • Real-world testing. Deploy and test our robotic arms on real vehicles.
  • Ad hoc engineering for design modifications and other activities
  • Presentation of ideas to the wider team

Participation in weekly team catch-ups, communicating your current work including trials and triumphs.

Sustainable TGU Production:

3D modelling and simulation of system components and process flow, produce engineering drawings, manufacture system components, assembly integration and testing of prototype system.

Technical skills:

Programming in C#, C++, python.
Ability to use CAD, 3D modelling, SolidWorks.
Experience with simulation software or image processing is a positive but not requirement.

Intern interpersonal qualities:

Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering Intern. Preferably in their 3rd or 4th year and willing to get involved in a flexible role that may involve a range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical and software engineering.

This project aims to explore opportunities relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of simulation training software.
Working with the CTO and technical team, the intern will use current AI tools and workflows to develop and prototype AI systems that improve user and developer experience. Tasks will be based on the experience/skills of the intern and a collaborative discussion with the technical team, but may include:

Our company will offer two separate simulation hardware projects for potential interns to choose and develop / contribute to:

  • Development of a robust generic multi-purpose display (MPD) unit for use on ground-based, fixed-wing and helicopter vehicle simulators.
  • Development of a reconfigurable and transportable simulator-in-a-box for use in collective helicopter and fixed-wing vehicle operator training.

Prospective intern(s) will have the freedom to explore and suggest various approaches and methodologies to delivering the projects, all while receiving guidance and support from our experienced engineers and design / workshop managers.

SPS repairs power supplies for Defence, Avionics, telecommunications, mining, broadcasting, medical,and general industry. The work involves highly skilled problem solving of electrical circuit boards within the power supply.

Projects / tasks:

Power supplies (PSU) exist in every aspect of our lives, from phone chargers to power stations. Our company repairs PSUs up to 50KW. PSUs range from small and simple to large and complex and everything in between. We are a specialist in the field of repair of our power supplies and we take pride in the knowledge and skill that our engineers have in efficiently determining the power supplies failure and making repair plans to economically repair the units. This needs a large variety of skills from understanding the electronics, problem solving, reverse engineering circuits to the practical skills of repair work, including quality soldering and mechanical aptitude.

Technical skills:

Flowcharting. Drawing of schematics is an advantage.

Interested in highly skilled, technical challenges with electronics and have the aptitude for problem solving with electronic circuit boards. Strong practical skills and enthusiasm/interest for electronic repair.
