Industry Host Eligibility
DIIP partners with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating within Australia’s defence industry to provide meaningful, paid internship opportunities for engineering and technology students.
To become a host organisation, businesses must demonstrate a genuine connection to the defence sector, the ability to provide quality learning experiences, and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive and professional environment for interns to thrive in.
To be eligible to host a DIIP Intern, an organisation must be:
- a registered Australian business with a valid ABN
- a small or medium sized enterprise operating in the defence industry that employs less than 200 staff
- undertaking work directly for Defence, as a Subcontractor to a Defence Prime engaged by Defence, or within the Defence supply chain
- financially viable and in good standing
- holding appropriate workers' compensation and business insurance coverage
- be willing to provide feedback to The Career Network regarding the progress of the intern, and their perception of the success of the DIIP
- be able to provide access to The Career Network to facilitate site visits during the Internship
- have a commitment to improving diversity and within the Defence industry
- able to provide meaningful work aligned to a student's studies and career goals
